|First Impression| RODAN + FIELDS Mini-Facial

Hi, hello!

I hope you have all been well!

I’ve had the opportunity to connect with Amy Kent, a fantastic woman who is an independent consultant for RODAN+FIELDS. She sent me a mini-facial that consisted of:

  • Micro-Dermabrasion Paste
    • Oil-free
    • Clears out pores
    • Improves skin tone and texture
  • Night Renewing Capsule
    • Helps fine lines
  • Lip Renewing Serum
    • Moisturizes lips
    • Reduces wrinkles on lips

RODAN + FIELDS has four different skin care lines which helps with various issues which I think is neat! The four are:

  • Redefine: Helps appearance of lines, pores and lack of firmness
  • Soothe: Helps with redness and is best suited for sensitive skin
  • Unblemish: Helps with acne and post-acne marks
  • Reverse: Helps with dullness and discolouration concerns

I was really excited to get to try the mini-facial Amy sent me as I’m always up to try new skin care products!

I followed the instructions (for the most part) on the back of the card I received from Amy, except I kind of did it all in one go versus breaking it up in the morning and evening since I’m a rule breaker like that😉 haha.

I used the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste first which was a really generous sample – definitely enough for two applications in total. The paste was thick and really grainy, but felt like it was giving me a really good exfoliation! I used it on dry skin and after applying it and rubbing it on my skin, I ended up using water to make it a bit more gentle as it said on the card. Afterwards, my skin did feel a bit dry but it always does after I exfoliate!

Here is a picture of what the paste looked like with no water. I guess I should have taken a picture of it on my face (lol) but I had clean hands and thought my hand was a bit more appealing than my bare face haha.

After I used the paste, I used the blue capsule as shown in an above picture, which was the Redefine Night Renewing Serum. The serum sample was enough for one use and my initial impression was that my skin felt really smooth but not super hydrated. On the card, it did say that you could use a moisturizer after the serum but I wanted to put the serum truly to the test on its own. I have to say, this was the first time I could somewhat feel firmness to my face- I can’t say it improved it significantly, but I can see myself using this more often and seeing more results! The most amazing thing about this serum was how it improved the texture of my skin. My skin in general doesn’t feel bumpy or anything, but it honestly felt SO smooth and just healthy.

As I kept the serum on overnight, I also tried the grey capsule in an above picture, which was the Redefine Lip Renewing Serum. This sample could have been used three times, but it honestly all came out of the capsule so quickly that I didn’t really get to save any of it and use another time. I would have liked better packaging rather than a capsule if there was that much product in there, because I had no idea how to really keep it all in the capsule for further use another day. This serum was really thick and moisturizing. I did notice the texture on my lips felt moist *cringe word* but I can’t really attest to my lips being less wrinkly. I don’t think my lips have that many wrinkles but I would have to use this longer to notice any results I think.

Out of all the three items I tried, I would say my least favourite was the Redefine Lip Renewing Serum only because it didn’t wow me. I think it could be a great serum if used over time, but I don’t think that is one of my problem areas to focus on and spend that much money on (personally).

I think all of these could give great results if used regularly- I have to be 100% honest…I don’t know if it was the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste or the Night Renewing Serum or the two in conjunction but the next day my skin felt and looked SO soft. My mom even said my skin looked radiant and “felt like a baby’s bum” and I didn’t even tell her I tried anything different on my skin!

The fact that I could feel the difference and someone could see a positive difference in my skin really amazed me. This was only after one use! I have to say that has never happened to me before in terms of skin care.

I was really skeptical about noticing any difference and I actually am very intrigued to keep using the paste and the night serum on a consistent basis!

I want to thank Amy Kent for sharing this sample with me! I meant to share this review so long ago, but I have been SO busy and Amy has been really accommodating and understanding. She also really knows her stuff and is extremely informative!

|September Favourites|

Hi, hello!

Oh my goodness, it has been SO long since I’ve made a post yet alone shared some of my favourite items.

Life has been..busy! I’ve started a full time job and I’m (attempting) to adult, although I’m not sure how successful that is going haha! For those who have stayed, thank you! For those who are new…welcome!🙂

Today I’m going to share some of my September favourites! I have more favourites over the few months I haven’t posted but I’m hoping to regularly post again so you will definitely see more of my current favourites in the future!

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow 24hr Foundation in 204: If you haven’t tried this foundation…just go. Go to your local drugstore and get this ASAP! I love the matte foundation that came out a while ago, but this one is just simply amazing. It gives a radiant glow and gives great medium to full coverage. I do set this with a translucent powder in my T-zone as I’ve been getting a bit oily lately…but this foundation lasts all day! I ALWAYS get compliments when I wear this foundation so I totally recommend this product especially it is available for a good price.

MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Pressed Powder: This translucent powder was purchased when the Chris Chang collection came out (notice the pretty packaging)! This is a permanent product though so it can be purchased online or at your MAC counter/store, but it will have the regular black packaging. I haven’t really used loose translucent powder yet, but this pressed powder keeps my T-zone from being shiny throughout the day! I like it because I can use it year long as it does not have a shade to it. I haven’t used many translucent powders so I can’t really compare it to others but I’ve really been enjoying it!

Becca Under Eye Brightening Concealer: I’ve always used a lighter concealer under my eyes for a brightening effect, but it has never truly been bright- I’ve noticed that there is still a bit of a dark area under my eyes and I would put more concealer on but it would just look cakey. I went to Sephora to solve my problem and someone recommended the Becca Under Eye Brightening Concealer. It is a salmon/pink colour with a thick consistency but blends out really nicely. The first time I put it on I noticed a difference right away! I use this concealer and then I put my light concealer I usually use (right now it is the Born This Way concealer by Too Faced) and my under eye area looks SOOOO good! If you find your under eye area isn’t very brightening I would totally recommend this!

Beauty Professional Look All-Over Shadow Brush: I really love how this shadow brush fits on my eyelid haha. It sounds weird, but I’m pretty picky when it comes to brushes. This brush really packs on shadow which is something I really love as I don’t have to continuously dip my brush into shadows to get pigmentation. It retails for $10 USD!

#BBYB Makeup Palette: This palette comes with 4 eyeshadows, 2 lipglosses, 1 highlight and 1 bronzer. I have to be honest, I haven’t even touched the lip glosses as I typically don’t use them in palettes..but the eyeshadows and highlight are stunning! As far as the bronzer goes, I would probably only use it as a shadow as it is pretty shimmery and a bit too orange in my opinion. The formula of the shadows are really buttery and gives an instant glow and pigmentation. I’ve included swatches (right picture) of the shadows and highlight/bronzer! I also like how this palette is made with no parabens or talc! Definitely a plus.

PIQUE Tea Crystals: I’ve had the opportunity to test out PIQUE Tea Crystals which was really exciting as I absolutely LOVE tea! These packets make it super easy to have tea on the go and I usually bring them to work with me! The cool thing about these crystals is that all the nutrients in the tea is consumed when drinking it- whereas when we regularly have tea, only about 20% of nutrients are consumed! There is absolutely no sugar in the crystals and it is supposed to help your metabolism and aid weight loss. I can’t really speak for any long term effects, but I honestly love the flavours I’ve tried and enjoy that I don’t have to steep my tea!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Sandstorm: This is my perfect nude shade for when I don’t want to really put a lot of effort into my look but I want a little something to show I’m alive (lol). I ALWAYS have this liquid lipstick in my purse as it is truly a true nude and goes with everything! I also really love the formula of these liquid suede lip creams. They do transfer a little bit but they are super comfortable and long wearing!

bareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Icon: I really like the mousse-y formula of this lip colour! I tend to enjoy more moisturizing liquid lipsticks as my lips are always dry! I do need to re-apply this after I eat but I think it is worth it as the colour is really gorgeous and the formula feels so nice!

Uni Organics Perfectly Clean Daily Cleanser: One of the things I love about this cleanser is that it feels like it is doing something! It also doesn’t leave my skin dry whatsoever which is something I’ve suffered from with other products. It is made with a lot of natural ingredients and is also an organic product! I use this regularly in my skin care routine and I’ll definitely have to purchase another one!

Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in 05 Deep: What was I doing without this? I love this coloured gel as it keeps my brows in place all day! I don’t use this alone though- I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz or Brow Definer with it and they work together like a dream. I love how small wand is! I bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills gel in the past and the wand was way too big! This small applicator definitely helps define my brows more.

Makeup For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer (Smoothing): When wearing foundation, I would notice that my foundations would always break out on my nose…and this would happen with every foundation! It was so irritating- so I went to Sephora and asked someone what I should do. I was recommended this Makeup For Ever primer to use around my nose to help with my pores. Obviously I need to do something about these pores haha but this primer definitely helps minimize them! My foundation no longer breaks up when I use this primer so basically it is a life saving product! It is a bit pricey to only use around my nose area but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in 01 Highlight: Why is does this product even have the word ‘matte’ in it? It isn’t matte at all, but it is definitely a highlight…probably one of my favourite highlights EVER! This is my go to highlight and it comes with me even when I’m travelling despite the chunky packaging. It gives such a gorgeous glow…I honestly cannot even describe it. It still looks very natural yet I feel like I’ve been kissed by an angel. Kathleen Lights always talks about it so after hearing her recommend it for the 100th time, I splurged. I was hesitant at first, and when I first swatched it I was like ‘eh okay..its nice I guess’. But when I applied it my life changed forever. Just try it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette: Do I even need to comment? This palette is LIFE. So.Many.Warm.Tones. Can’t breathe. This palette has kicks up A LOT of powder which may seem alarming buuuut it blends like a dream, thankfully. I have SO many palettes yet I use this one all the time and I even want to get a backup because I know I will one day hit pan and cry.

NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me: Perfection…absolute perfection. I love swirling my blush brush to blend these two colours together. I am definitely a mauve lover, so this blush gets a lot of use. I love how it is so wearable and pigmented! This blush has some shimmer to it but is very subtle!

Thank you soo much for reading about my favourites!

Please make sure you comment below and let me know what you’ve been loving in the month of September🙂
