I’ve been waiting very impatiently for the Colour Pop Ultra Satin Lip products to release. I was literally waking up every hour wondering when I could get my hands on them! I’m very pleased that I ended up getting all the colours I wanted, and now I am debating getting even more because they are just that awesome.
The Ultra Satin Lips are essentially a liquid lipstick, but they are formulated to have a satin finish to them. Therefore, they are not really meant to dry completely matte, and they are not transfer-proof. I wouldn’t say this is your typical liquid lipstick for these reasons, but for those who suffer from dry lips, this will be your saviour.
I personally tried the Ultra Matte Lip and I bought way too more than I could handle. I honestly do not really like their formula as my lips get super dry. That formula unfortunately did not work great with my lips, and in the first ten minutes of applying them, I always take it off because it is way too uncomfortable.
I was excited when I heard about the Ultra Satin Lip though because it sounded like the perfect medium–still in a liquid form, but would be more moisturizing.
What I love about the Ultra Satin Lip is that although it does transfer, the colour stays on your lips for a long period of time. I would say it stayed put for a solid 6-8 hours as I talked, ate, drank, etc. I re-applied only once near dinner, and that was it! My lips did not feel dry at all, and I did not feel the need to take it off or put lip chap on what so ever. This may be the best formula ever!
I really hope Colour Pop comes out with more shades as I think they will definitely be a hit for those who have dry lips.
I think it is important to keep in mind that they are not targeting this product to be a matte, non-transferring liquid lipstick. I think people are almost used to liquid lipstick having a dryness to the point where our lips look crusty and gross, but these do the exact opposite! So just keep that in mind when trying them. If you like the super matte, transfer proof liquid lipsticks, I would stay away from this one as it is very different than those.
In terms of packaging, I quite enjoy the classic look they have going on with the silver top with the silver writing. I kind of wish the packaging was a bit different than the ultra matte lips though, because I can see myself confusing the two at first glance.
The smell of these lip products smell a bit chemical-y at first, but I have to really sniff the tube to get that scent. When applying them, I don’t smell anything and as it is on my lips, there is no scent either, which I like.
Echo Park: This is a warm nude shade with a hint of peach. I personally quite like this colour, and I think this would be a popular shade people would gravitate towards. It was very pigmented and creamy!
Magic Wand: This is a lighter nude than Echo Park, but it isn’t so light that it is unwearable. I actually like this colour, but I think it depends on the look I go for!
Marshmallow: Sigh. I want to like this so bad. I feel like I always gravitate towards light lavender colours, and then it looks like…this….haha. This grey-lavender colour looks stunning when swatched, but as you can see, it does not look the greatest on me. I mean, this is definitely not an outfit/eye look I would personally wear with this lip colour, so granted that could have something to do with it. But I don’t think it is super flattering on me. I can see this being a popular shade though, and it looking good on others! In terms of the pigmentation though, it is great just as the others!
Dopey: This mauve colour is one of my favourites out of the bunch. It is definitely wearable, and I know this colour is going to be a favourite for others as well. Honestly, I have only good things to say about this colour! It is so stunning! I also may have an extra one for a giveaway if you keep reading 😉 hint hint…
Frick N Frack: Ok, so lets ignore the ugly picture of me for a second and just focus on the lip colour haha. This is apparently what happens when I take photos, but don’t view them first! Anyways, this is a gorgeous rose shade with a hint of red in there. It is a gorgeous colour and one that I think would suit a lot of skin tones.
Mess Around: This dusty grey-brown colour is super on trend right now, so i think people would love this colour! I think I have some shades similar to this, but I love the formula so much that I have no problem having another lip shade like this. I honestly think its a beautiful colour that isn’t too brown, and not too grey. It’s just right!
Petit Four: I think this dark charcoal grey colour is super pretty swatched. On my lips? It isn’t the best, and it isn’t the worst. I think others will look better wearing it than me haha! But I think for adventurous folks, this colour is really gorgeous and different. I can say I don’t have another shade like this, which makes it unique and bold of Colour Pop to create such an interesting shade. Kudos to you, Colour Pop! 🙂
Toolips: I reeeeally like this shade! I would describe it as a brown-plum shade. I think this is the colour that probably goes best with my eye look here, aha. I can totally see myself wearing this regularly.
In terms of the colours, pigmentation, and wear time, I think Colour Pop has really delivered! The pigmentation of all these lip colours is spot on, and the colours are absolutely stunning. I really hope they come out with more shades, as I will continue to buy more! I think I may even buy some shades I didn’t beforehand.
