|Review & Swatches| NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments

Hi, hello! 🙂

I hope you have all been well! I just got a haircut and feel like a new person! Do you ever feel that way when you change something about your appearance? My hair was so long and now it feels much more healthy! These pictures were taken before my haircut though, so unfortunately you will not see the new me just yet…;)

Today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on the new Nars Powermatte Lip Pigments, a new matte liquid lipstick that has just been released! Nars came out with 18 new lip colours that claim to be long wearing and I thought I should put ’em to the test!

In terms of the packaging, I like the sleek black NARS is known for. I’m in love with the fact that they included a space in the middle of the tube so you can see which colour you are choosing! I think it looks super elegant and classy.

The three colours I chose are American Woman, Save the Queen, and London Calling. When looking on Sephora, the shades definitely looked a bit lighter than what the shades actually were once I swatched them. I anticipated London Calling to be a nice lilac mauve shade but it turned out being suuuper dark on me!

As a word of caution, it is directed to shake the tube before you apply this liquid lipstick. In terms of the application, it applied very smoothly, evenly, and was EXTREMELY pigmented. These liquid lipsticks are no joke when it comes to pigmentation – one swipe is all you need!

The doe-foot applicator was extremely thin, making it a precise application, but it did take longer to put on as it did not go over your entire lip at once. I do like how precise the wand was though, it definitely made it easy to apply it around the lip line.

  • American Woman

This colour is described as a ‘chestnut rose’ and I totally agree. It has a rose tint to it, but definitely some brown. This could be an everyday shade for some, but for me this is juuust bold enough depending on where I am going. I really like this shade though and the formula was not drying whatsoever!

  • Save the Queen

This shade is described as ‘dusty mauve’ and I would agree somewhat, but I think it is a tad bit brighter than what I consider dusty mauve. It definitely is a gorgeous shade, but I don’t see myself wearing this all the time. I feel like this shade is definitely in right now though, so I can see this being a very popular shade!

  • London Calling

Nars describes this shade as lilac pink, which I…..I don’t think so? I consider lilac much lighter than this. I see this shade as being more of a dusty purple but thats just my opinion. I wore this shade to an event recently and I definitely love how it wore. It honestly felt like nothing on my lips – it wan’t drying and stayed put for the entire event, even though the multiple drinks I had hehe.

Overall, I really like the formula of these lip pigments. They are really bold, they apply evenly and are pigmented, have little scent to them and they also stay on for a really long time. I wouldn’t say they are 100% transfer proof but they don’t budge much once they are completely dried. I tend to have very dry lips and to say they comfortably felt like nothing is a pretty big deal! I can see myself definitely picking up a few more of these once they begin hitting stores.

What are your thoughts on these lip pigments? Will you try ’em?

Love always,

I’m really curious to see your new haircut! I love the fact that you wear glasses like me, it’s hard to see beauty bloggers wearing glasses.
I’m so glad that these are good, I have to buy at least one!
